Pheasant Coucal

Lately we have also had a beautiful Pheasant Coucal visiting.
It is often seen also in neighbouring trees.
This photo taken by Brendon, the coucal was extremly high up in a very large ironbark tree.

Wedge-Tailed Eagle

Never tire of the beautiful sight of a soaring Wedge-tailed Eagle.  Also it is about the only time that the Noisy Minors keep quite when there is an Eagle in the vicinity!

Darter or Black Cormorant??

I took these photos at our place, my first thought was that this bird was a Darter because of how it looked and also because of it spreading its wings out to dry in the sun as Darters plumage does not repel water.  Also could not see in the pics the small hook on the end of the bill that the Black Cormorant has.  Any opinions greatly appreciated and I do apologise for the very poor photos that I took from the verandah.

Indian Koel

This visiting "Stormbird" has made its presence know over the last few weeks when there has been plenty of rain around.   We have also heard the sound of the Channel-billed Cuckoo early some mornings, coming from the large gum trees near the creek, but am yet to get a photo of one here.

Hidden Dangers

Hidden Dangers in the lawn - the Wolf Spider.

I pointed this one out to the children today - hence why I keep saying that they have to wear shoes when outside!!  Think this example may have just made this rule sink in!
