This medium sized lace monitor was seen checking out the large hollows in a popular nesting tree not far from our house. We have witnessed goanas stealing the treasured eggs of wood ducks previously in this tree, however I am unsure that there was something nesting in the hollow at the time this one was seen. This tree has been very popular for our local Galah's and Wood Ducks, we have also seen the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and also Pale-Headed Rosellas checking it out from time to time as well.
I was a bit dissapointed with how these photos of the Lace Monitor turned out on this day, probably due to the sun being behind the subject.
