Australian King Parrot Pair

22/08/15

These local Australian King Parrot pair, visit us at Jarowair sporadically.  Last Sunday they turned up on the veranda and this means that they would like a special treat.  They love almonds and happily let me take a few photos.

  1. Stunning birds.

I didn't realise they liked almonds. We feed the pair that visit us sunflower seeds, which they love.

    1. We found out about their love of almonds by chance, one day when they visited I didn't have anything suitable like seed in the kitchen, so offered the nuts and they loved them - even preferred them over a slice of apple! I put seed in the bird feeders on occasion which has sunflower seeds in it though, and they usually find it and love it too.

  2. Lovely photos of lovely birds.

Have you ever played music with a steady beat when they turn up? At a previous address we used to get them regularly and if we were playing something bluesy they'd often bop along in time!

    1. No we have never tried the music! That idea has intrigued me though and I must remember to try it next time they come onto the deck!
