Southern Boobook Owls 07/07/12

These Southern Boobook Owls had been disturbed from their sleep by some pesky Noisy Miners at our Neighbours property today.  The noisy Miners were un-relentless in their attacks, swooping and bombing the Boobooks who regularly perch in this large ironbark tree.  J.G.

    1. Thanks Pete, we have them regularly at our place, but I have only spotted them roosting once during the day and they were so high up the photos were very poor! The noisy miners allerted us to these only 200meters away from the front of our place at our neighbours. My neighbour sees them roosting in this spot most days, it is a really thick-leaved iron back tree, so it is usually a good hiding spot I imaagine, not on this day though!

  2. I've only ever seen one once, but heard them plenty. Be nice to have them so close by.

    1. Thanks John, We hear them often at our patch here, but most images I have taken have been at night and not worked out. They are beautiful birds and I was thrilled to be able to get these photos at a fairly close distance during the day... i'm sure they would have prefered to have stayed hidden though!
